Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one victories have been earned on hardcourt
A revitalized Medvedev claimed his initial trophy for nearly 30 months with a win over Corentin Moutet in the Almaty Open championship match.
Medvedev, a ex- number one, has experienced a torrid year, achieving just one match at the Grand Slams and undergoing a difficult moment at the American major.
Medvedev's inconsistency on the ATP Tour - and struggles with his service game in particular - led to him falling of the elite rankings and ultimately separating with long-term mentor Cervara.
Presently training with his coach and Goetzke, Medvedev has consistently advanced in the past month - culminating in a closely contested three-set victory over challenger Corentin Moutet.
This marks his first championship following the Italian tournament and first on a hard surface after that period of 2023.
Victory also means he has secured twenty-one victories at twenty-one different tournaments.
"For the first time I have attended a tournament with my two daughters simultaneously, so to win a championship is really nice," stated world number 14 Daniil Medvedev.
"This victory is in dedication of my younger daughter my daughter, because the maiden victory I got when my older daughter Alisa was born was for her."
The tennis star, the past champion, had lost his past six championship matches, featuring in the German tournament in the past months.
The player's retrieving play style and frequent emotional displays on court had caused commentators to question if his capacity to play at the elite level was finished.
Yet the player has altered his approach in the last few weeks, striving to come to the net and compete aggressively, reinforced by an enhanced serve.
The champion recovered from a disadvantage in the first set against the challenging Moutet, winning four of the last five games to gain the advantage.
Both players swapped service breaks in the following set before the challenger, attempting for his initial professional championship, gained dominance to push for a final set.
The opponent saved four early-game opportunities in a tight final set before Medvedev secured a break to 15 to close out the victory.
Appropriately, he clinched victory with a rally at the net area, with Moutet unable to manage a return after over two and a half hours.
